Professional Profile

I am an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist and University Lecturer with over three decades of healthcare practice and education, both in Kosovo and international mission contexts. With a foundational background in nursing (BA-2007) and a Master of Science in Health Education (2017) from the University of Prishtina, my career has combined clinical expertise, academic leadership, health promotion, and humanitarian service.

Clinical and Humanitarian Experience

My professional journey began in 1985 at the Regional Hospital “Dr. Daut Mustafa” in Prizren, where I gained broad experience in inpatient care, patient education, and diagnostic procedures.

From the late 1990’s onward, I became deeply involved in international humanitarian and development missions. Serving as Health and Safety Advisor with the International Rescue Committee/IRC, during Kosovo’s post-conflict reconstruction, I led public health assessments and implemented health, sanitation, and education improvements for vulnerable communities.

Between 2000 and 2010, I held nursing, national officer and managerial roles with several UN missions, including UNICEF Kosovo, UNMIK, and UNMIT in Timor-Leste. These assignments placed me in complex, multicultural environments where I provided primary and emergency healthcare, supervised medical staff, supported evacuations, and contributed to public health planning and capacity building. My work consistently emphasized compassionate care, confidentiality, and crisis response.

Engagement in Kosovo and Academia

Returning to Kosovo in 2010, I served with EULEX as an Advanced Practice GP Nurse and later transitioned into academic roles, initially joining Heimerer College—for a short time, and later AAB College of Nursing, since the first day in October 2016, as an admin officer and assistant lecturer.

My focus has been on mentoring undergraduate nursing students, designing curricula, and leading practical placements. Since 2016, I have been a permanent University Lecturer at AAB College’s School of Nursing, teaching general nursing and contributing to academic research, faculty development, and student evaluation.

Concurrently, since December 2017, I have served as Clinical Academic Nurse Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo. In this role, I provide advanced and holistic care to diplomatic and local staff, including diagnosis, chronic disease management, and coordination with external providers. I apply expert-level decision-making in occupational and primary care, grounded in evidence-based practice and cultural competence.

Professional Development and Training

Throughout my career, I have continually invested in professional development, completing advanced certifications in infectious diseases, trauma care, resuscitation, palliative care, and emergency response. These include training with Harvard Medical School, the American Heart Association, American Red Cross (BLS-certified) instructor/trainer, and the European Resuscitation Council, among others.

Language and Professional Skills

Fluent in Albanian, Serbian, English, and conversational in German and Turkish, I bring strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to every setting.

I am deeply committed to improving health outcomes through education, practice, and advocacy, and I take pride in mentoring the next generation of nurses to carry forward this mission.
