The Faculty of Social Sciences, by offering the Master’s program “Care and Welfare of Children,” prepares staff with a different and more innovative profile. The MA program in Childcare and Welfare emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of children’s care, welfare, and education, strongly focusing on the family environment, social policy, and organizational management
The program is structured to provide students with a deep understanding of the developmental needs and well-being of children, both within the family and in broader social contexts. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the ability to interpret and adapt to changes in childcare, plan and manage childcare activities, and use collaborative strategies to promote children’s development. Moreover, students will gain insights into the current social system in Kosovo and evaluate policies aimed at enhancing early childhood well-being, demonstrating the program’s practical relevance.
The mission of the Master’s program “Child Care and Welfare” is “to prepare specialized professionals for the labor market, for preschool institutions and non-governmental organizations in Kosovo and beyond, through advanced teaching methods, in theory, and practice, who become independent researchers and contribute to improving the care and well-being of children as well as the leadership of educational institutions.”

Admission of new students to the MA Childcare and Welfare program is made through a public and transparent procedure that is consistent and is applied fairly to all students. Master’s studies have the right to enroll all candidates who have completed the basic Bachelor’s studies and have earned at least 240 credits (ECTS). The conditions for admission to the Master’s studies for the MA Child Care and Welfare program are:
The number of study places, according to the decision of KAA, is 50 students per academic year.
According to the Regulation for Master Studies at AAB College, the recognition of qualifications and the transfer of studies are governed by Articles 9, 10, and 11. These articles outline the conditions, criteria, and procedures for admitting students from other higher education institutions, the process for transferring, and the recognition and equivalence of previously completed courses.
Studies in the MA Program in Childcare and Welfare last 1 year, 60 ECTS, with a total of 2 semesters.
Upon completion of studies, students earn the academic title Master of Arts in Childcare and Welfare.
Students who complete this Master’s program will develop academic knowledge and practical skills to be competent to serve as child caregivers, administrators and leaders of kindergartens, workers in social institutions, and in institutions that deal with the implementation, design, and drafting of social policies.
The institutional approach to assessment is to encourage a diversity of assessment methods that are appropriate within the field of social sciences and child welfare. Learning outcomes are assessed through written examinations or in-class tests, case studies, seminar papers, individual assignments, reviews of scientific articles, oral presentations, practical work, the final dissertation, etc.

The course “Research Methodology in Social Sciences” aims to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for designing and conducting scientific research. It includes identifying research problems, selecting the methodology, collecting and analyzing data, as well as interpreting and presenting the results.
The course “Contemporary Practices and Educational Strategies in Early Childhood” aims to equip students with knowledge and skills for implementing modern teaching methods, effective classroom management, planning activities and lessons, as well as fostering critical thinking, professional reflection, and creative problem-solving within the context of the modern curriculum.
The course “Leadership and Management in Preschool Institutions” aims to develop in students the knowledge and skills needed for effective management of early childhood institutions. Students engage in practical research on organizational structure, developmental planning, and the development of leadership competencies, communication, and professional collaboration.
The course “Social Policies in Early Childhood” aims to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge about the social well-being of children in Kosovo through the analysis of policies, legislation, and contemporary practices. Students develop the ability to understand social challenges while critically reflecting on the improvement of existing policies.
The course “Integration of Technology in Education” provides an in-depth analysis of the use and challenges of technology in the teaching process. Students explore curriculum planning, the creation of interactive materials, and the use of virtual platforms. The course includes the impact of artificial intelligence, coding for children, technological assistance for special needs, as well as safety and privacy in the digital environment.
The course “Children’s Well-being in the Family” deeply addresses issues of safety, care, and the well-being of children within the family. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students analyze the socio-cultural, economic, and psychological factors that influence children’s well-being, focusing on innovative interventions, social justice, and the laws in Kosovo related to the protection and development of children and families.
The course “Advanced Methodology of Early Childhood Education” provides students with knowledge and skills for applying advanced pedagogical approaches and methods in preschool institutions. It includes the study of the curriculum, the organization of activities, strategies for fostering socialization and cognitive development in children, as well as the role of educators and parents as partners in the educational process. The goal is to prepare students to implement the most appropriate practices in early childhood education.
The master’s thesis aims to enable the student to practice and apply theories and methods for solving complex problems in Computer Science. The course covers the entire research process: from defining the topic and project, reviewing the literature, designing the research, selecting the population and measurement instruments, collecting and analyzing data, to drafting and evaluating the scientific report, including practical tasks carried out alongside academic preparation.
