The most recent lecture on diplomacy for the students of the Faculty of Public Administration, AAB College hosted the German Ambassador to Kosovo Mr. Joern Rohde, who spoke at length about German Diplomacy.

Since Germany is one of the most influential countries in the European Union, the students’ interest in the ambassador’s opinion on political developments in the country, the region and beyond was much greater than usual. The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Joern Rohde, said that Kosovo has no alternative other than talks with Serbia and reconfirmed Germany’s support in this process.  

He even said that the EU and the US are on the same page in terms of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and that this is evidenced by the joint visit of two important personalities in Kosovo, Miroslav Lajcak and Mathew Palmer.

In addition to the dialogue, Ambassador Rohde said that Germany has offered full assistance to Kosovo through the Berlin Process, initiated by Chancellor Angela Merkel. “The next summit of the Berlin Process is scheduled to take place in early July in Berlin, with all six Western Balkan states present” Rohde said.

The German diplomat called the statements of the Kosovo opposition untrue, and said that these agreements of this process are akin to creating a New Yugoslavia.

“The Berlin Process gives Kosovo a platform to be among equals in this region and not be treated differently. We hope it will be a success ” he said. 

Ambassador Rohde also said that the non-liberalization of visas for Kosovars is unfair and unjust.

He urged Kosovo to work closely with France and the Netherlands to help shift their position on the issue.
