In the opening activity organized by AAB College in cooperation with UN Women, a forum titled “The Importance of Global Entrepreneurship Week”, participated many prominent names from different spheres in Kosovo, such as the former President Atifete Jahjaga, Deputy. Minister of Education Dukagjin Pupovci, Development Coordinator at the UN Office, Ulrika Richardson, Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Kosovo, Mrs. Kurimoto Kay, Member of the Assembly of Kosovo, Jeta Statovci and Head of the UN Women Office in Kosovo, Mrs. Vlora Tuzi Nushi.

In his welcoming speech, Vice Rector Shemsedin Vehapi said that events such as this come naturally to AAB College as an integral part of study programs and as a necessary component which supports the building of competencies of students and align them with the needs of the labor market.

“A study conducted by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics on the inclusion of women in the academy shows that AAB College has the largest number of women involved in management of the teaching process. This serves as an example for higher education institutions in Kosovo on how to implement gender equality “, said Vehapi.

In these two decades, we have made significant progress in terms of strengthening the role of women in entrepreneurship and doing business, said President Jahjaga, but according to her, if the statistical data are compared, it is necessary to take the necessary measures to make even more changes to the current situation so that more women would be encouraged to get involved in the field of entrepreneurship.

In this discussion forum, it was said that engaging in entrepreneurship through academia and innovation is one of the most urgent and effective tools to promote progress in gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth.
