AAB College has won and will lead the project KO-in-EU – Shaping Kosovo’s EU Future: Establishing a Centre of Excellence on European Union’s Integration, Values, Role and Impact, funded by the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence programme. The three-year project aims to strengthen academic and public understanding of Kosovo’s European integration process, through an interdisciplinary approach that brings together scientific research, education and social engagement.
Kosovo is at a crucial stage in its process towards integration into the European Union, but the challenges of fully understanding EU policies and values remain significant. The KO-in-EU project aims to address this gap by establishing a Centre of Excellence at AAB College, which will serve as a hub of knowledge, research and education on EU processes, policies and impact in Kosovo.
Main project objectives
Development of new courses on European integration in faculties such as Psychology, Social Sciences and Public Administration;
Creation of an “EU Impact Observatory”, which will monitor the impact of EU-funded projects in Kosovo and provide evidence-based policy data;
Development of student programs, including international summer schools, “Jean Monnet Ambassador Program” and integration hackathons that will bring digital ideas for governance and transparency;
Organization of knowledge forums and annual conferences on Kosovo-EU relations, to connect academia with policymakers and civil society.
By the end of the project, the Center will have created a sustainable academic environment that fosters EU studies in various fields and that connects learning with policymaking.
Project results
Three new courses on EU studies integrated into faculty curricula;
Three summer schools with participants from the region;
An active observatory on the EU’s impact in Kosovo;
Three annual conferences and knowledge exchange forums;
A series of podcasts, infographics and research publications that will promote EU values through digital channels and ATV.
After the end of EU funding, the KO-in-EU Center of Excellence will continue to function as a permanent structure within AAB College, providing ongoing training, publications and research activities. Its outputs will help strengthen Kosovo’s institutions, harmonise with EU standards and raise public awareness of democratic values and the rule of law.
In this way, KO-in-EU positions AAB College as a regional leader in the field of European studies and as an important contributor to Kosovo’s integration process into the European Union.
