On the occasion of the World Day of People with Down Syndrome, an activity was held at the campus of AAB College in Gjakovë, where professors and students of the Faculty of Social Sciences were invited.
With the initiative of the Dean’s office of the Faculty of Social Sciences, in cooperation with the director of AAB College campus in Gjakovë, Rifat Haxhija, led by two professors Violeta Buza and Diana Qarkaxhija, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Challenges and achievements of the integration of people with Down Syndrome in our society”.
Invited to this panel were the coordinator of services in Handikos – Gjakovë, Ilirjana Qehaja Luzha, who told about the professional services offered to children and adults in this institution, Suzana Shala Xharra, retired teacher, contributor for many years in the attached class with children with special needs, which continues to help voluntarily.
The parents of children with Down syndrome, Gjylfidane Çela Rraci, Advije Vokshi Hoxha, Florije Zeqiri, Ferdinaze Gola, together with young people Meriton Rraci, Era Mamusha and Vlera Gola, who notedthe challenges and achievements in different periods, also participated.
Students of the High School of Medicine “Hysni Zajmi” of Gjakova, were present as well, along with the director Gjokë Tahiri and teacher Eldita Mullahasani, as well as the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, who emphasized their experiences and support for children with Down Syndrome.
