As part of marking Global Money Week, the Career Center at AAB College organized a panel discussion on the topic: “The Role of Digital Money in Combating Tax Evasion”, bringing together institutional representatives and experts from the financial sector.
The panel was moderated by Professor Medain Hashani, who highlighted the importance of addressing developments in the financial sector from both academic and practical perspectives. He emphasized the growing role of digitalization in enhancing transparency and strengthening mechanisms against tax evasion.
Panel participants included Dardan Fusha from the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mentor Hyseni from the Tax Administration of Kosovo, and Bashkim Zeqiri from Paysera.
Mr. Fusha discussed current developments in the financial system, with a particular focus on the role and impact of digital technologies in increasing the efficiency of financial services and promoting economic growth. He noted that the advancement of digital payment instruments enables faster, more secure, and cost-effective processes, facilitating the circulation of funds and supporting economic activity. In this context, he underlined that these developments contribute to greater transaction traceability and strengthen the integrity of the financial system.
From the perspective of the tax administration, Mr. Hyseni emphasized the importance of using technology to identify and prevent tax evasion. He pointed out that the digitalization of tax processes and increased inter-institutional cooperation are key elements in improving tax compliance.
Meanwhile, Mr. Zeqiri spoke about the role of digital financial platforms in transforming the way payments are made and their impact on reducing the informal economy. He stressed that the use of modern payment solutions contributes to increased efficiency and transparency in economic activities.
The panel featured interactive discussions and an exchange of perspectives between the panelists and participants. This activity served as a platform to address current issues related to economic and financial developments at both the local and global levels.
