FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES MARKS INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION DAY HIGHLIGHTING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The Faculty of Foreign Languages at AAB College hosted a discussion panel to celebrate International Translation Day. The keynote speaker, Dr. Antony Hoyte-West from the United Kingdom, demonstrated how theoretical knowledge from management aesthetics can illustrate the impact of artificial intelligence on modern translation and interpreting professions. He emphasized the importance for modern translators to acquire new skills to stay aligned with technology.

Attendees included:

• Valentina Sopjani, Director of the Translation Office at the Judicial Council
• Vjollca Sogojeva, Senior Officer for English Language Harmonization at the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo
• Arta Pllana, representative of the Language Commissioner’s Office, Prime Minister
• Lisena Gjebrea, translator for the EU Ambassador in Albania
• Drita Kozmaqi and Remzie Ajeti, translators from the Ombudsperson’s Office
• Afrim Hyseni, Director of TranKOS Consulting
• Bruno Neziraj, translator,

as well as other faculty professors, and freelance interpreters.

Prof. Aida Alla, Dean of the Faculty, thanked the participants and stressed that discussions like these are essential to strengthen the translator and interpreter profession in an era of rapidly evolving artificial intelligence.

All participants pledged to meet again to discuss translation issues in Kosovo.
