AAB College Co-Organizes 6th International Scientific Conference in Legal Sciences

On September 19, 2025, the Faculty of Law at AAB College, together with the Faculty of Law at the South East European University (SEEU) and “Ismail Qemali” University of Vlora, co-organized the 6th International Scientific Conference in Legal Sciences (ISCLS ’25), held at SEEU. The theme of this edition was: “Challenges of the Rule of Law in the Western Balkans – Current Situation and Perspectives.

Interinstitutional Collaboration

The event created a unique platform for international academic cooperation, bringing together scholars, professors, and professionals from three universities. The forum addressed current issues in the field of rule of law and offered concrete recommendations for the region’s future.

Opening Remarks and Conference Significance

Prof. Dr. Adnan Jashari, Dean of the Faculty of Law at SEEU, emphasized the importance of cross-border academic collaboration for building strong legal institutions and democratic states. Prof. Ass. Dr. Mentor Lecaj, Dean of AAB College’s Faculty of Law, highlighted the College’s commitment to fostering a scientific tradition supporting the development of the legal system in Kosovo and beyond.

Scientific Sessions and Key Topics

Discussions covered: fighting corruption and organized crime, the role of supreme courts in protecting constitutional principles, challenges in harmonizing national legislation with EU acquis, and the prospects of European integration for the Western Balkans. These sessions combined theoretical analysis with practical experiences, making the conference a genuine dialogue between academia and legal practice.

Contribution to Rule of Law and Regional Development

The event reaffirmed the importance of interuniversity cooperation and joint engagement for strengthening the rule of law. ISCLS ’25 represents a key contribution to legal reforms and the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
