Prof. Mr. Sc. Nagjije Berbati Kastrati was born in the village of Ticë in Skenderaj on 12.12.1965. Her family moved to Peja in 1968. She completed her primary and secondary education in Peja. She studied at the University of Pristina, Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Albanian Literature and Language, graduating in 1995. Later, she lived in Switzerland for a while. She completed her postgraduate studies in 2013 at the Faculty of Philology, Department of Albanian Literature and Language, with a thesis on “Interpretation of Literature in High School”. In the same year, Nagjija also completed training on “Critical Thinking in Writing and Reading” at MKLSH and was elected a professional trainer for this course organized by KEC under Professor Dukagjin Pupovci. Professor Nagjije Kastrati successfully fulfilled this task. For decades, she has been a guide to the educational curriculum and a carrier of new reforms.
Prof. Mr. Sc. Nagjije Berbati Kastrati has been a teacher of Albanian Literature and Language since the early years after the war. She has worked with generations of students, mainly from high schools in Peja. For some time, she was also a lecturer of Academic Writing at Haxhi Zeka University in Peja. Prof. Kastrati has also been an actress in amateur and professional theater. Under the direction of Selami Taraku, she played the role of a teacher in the drama “My Father, a Socialist Cultist” together with Xhevat and Leze Qena. She has excelled in the art of expressive reading and has won several awards together with actor Mentor Zymberaj in Peja, Istog, Prishtina, and elsewhere. She also acted under director Nysret Simica in the drama “Miu në xhep”. Her love for books, literature, and everything it brings has been and remains boundless.
Prof. Nagjije Berbati-Kastrati is also known as a creator. She has proven herself in various poetry and prose competitions. She has been recognized by art critics for her unique personality and style. After over two decades of teaching, and to stay ahead of her students, she has completed various didactic and professional courses. For several years, she has monitored and led MKLSH activities in various schools in Peja and the surrounding area.
Prof. Mr. Sc. Nagjije Berbati-Kastrati is the author of four books across different genres such as poetry, short prose, stories, and numerous studies in literary theory and criticism. In “Ora e lirisë” she also won third prize, and at the literary meeting in Podujeva “Ora e Agimit” she was chosen third place.
