For seven nights in a row, the audience in record numbers filled the theaters of AAB College, to watch performances from different countries of the world in one place – Pristina.
This week brought together theater companies, directors and all theater lovers for the eighth edition in a row, reaping tremendous success every year.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti, Deputy Prime Minister Emilia Redzepi, Ambassador of Montenegro to Kosovo H.E. Bernard Çobaj, Ambassador of Croatia to Kosovo H.E. Danijela Barišić and many other important figures from public life.
PITF also dedicated space this edition to the students, to make their selection through the “Best Play: Students choice” award, which was delivered by Qendresa Gashi on behalf of the Student Jury, for the play “Here, Kitty Kitty”.
The director of “Here, Kitty Kitty” play Filip Petkovski, expressed his honor that an award like this has been given for his play, while he described the participation in the festival as the best experience.
The Media Jury, consisting of Lumira Kelmendi – RTK, Ardiana Pajaziti – Kultplus and Teuta Arifaj – ATV, awarded the “Best Play: Media choice” award to “Father and Father” directed by Kushtrim Koliqi. He thanked the audience, the cast and the festival for the award.
Well-known singer Sabri Fejzullahu was invited to deliver the “Best Play: Public award” for this year, this award was handed in to “Muhammad Ali, the one and only” by director Dino Mustafić.
The director of ARTimage, co-organizer of the festival, Ilir Bytyçi, presented the “Special Mention” award, on behalf of the organizing council of the festival, to the National Theater of Montenegro, for “Bloody Moon” play.
Actor Enver Petrovci delivered the “Best Supporting Role” award for Dino Bajrović from the “Muhammad Ali, the one and only” play.
And the “Best Actor” award, which was given by actor Ilir Tafa, was handed in to the actress Ilire Vinca from the “Father and Father” play from Kosovo.
The director of the Prishtina International Theater Festival, Zijad Mehic, thanked everyone involved in the implementation of this very important event for art and culture in general. Among other things, he expressed gratitude for the participation of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, from the beginning to the end of the festival. Among the nominees, the award for “Best Director” was won by Kushtrim Koliqi for the “Father and Father” play from Kosovo.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti, in this edition of PITF, shared the “Best Play” prize, the main prize of PITF, which went to the play “Muhammad Ali, the one and only” from the National Theater of Sarajevo.
“They have started asking me why I’m attending plays, because I probably go often, when I tell them I’m going for fun, they don’t believe me. So, in the ninth edition, don’t send me an invitation at all, because I’m coming myself. Festivals like this and events like this make art a culture, so I thank them from the bottom of my heart and express my deep gratitude to all those who worked and contributed,” said Kurti.
