Professor Villy Tsakona delivers lecture to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages

Prof. Villy Tsakona, a lecturer at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, delivered a lecture to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​on the topic “From humor as criticism to a social critique of humor”. Her research focuses on sociopragmatic analysis of humor, narrative analysis, media and political discourse, and critical literature. She has published 54 articles indexed in Scopus, including editing issues and special volumes on humor and discourse, such as Intertextuality and Humor (2020) and The Dynamics of Interactional Humor (2018).

Recently, she has published two monographs, Recontextualizing Humor (2020) and Exploring the Sociopragmatics of Online Humor (2024), and has co-edited Exploring the Ambivalence of Liquid Racism (2024). She is also a co-editor of the European Journal of Humor Research.
