Students of the Faculty of German Language at AAB College organized the activity “Literary Reading and Interpretation”, focusing on the analysis of the work “Brief einer Unbekannten” (Letter from an Unknown Woman) by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig.
Through a selected excerpt from the novella, students engaged in an in-depth reading of the text, exploring its semantic and aesthetic layers, as well as the translation challenges posed by this literary work.
Under the guidance of Prof. Shkurte Veliu–Ajdini, Prof. Miradije Miftaraj Bytyqi, and Prof. Armend Bytyqi, students examined the characters, their underlying motivations, the emotional atmosphere, and the artistic devices employed by the author, while discussing how these elements can be preserved in the target language during translation.
The comparison of diverse student perspectives highlighted the variety of interpretations that a masterfully written text can generate. Consequently, the activity marked an important step forward in the development of students’ critical and linguistic competencies, through the analysis of one of the most distinguished authors of world literature.
