Aims and profile of the study program

The Faculty of Public Administration is a leading center of knowledge and development in the field of public administration in Kosovo and the region. Accordingly, the MA in Public Administration program offers an interdisciplinary environment where students gain in-depth knowledge of public administration through scientific research, cooperation with central and local institutions, local businesses, as well as through the application of knowledge in practice, professional lectures, counselling, and training.

The MA program in Public Administration combines theory with practice, equipping students with advanced knowledge in public administration and public management. The program aims to develop analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the professional competencies needed to address the challenges of the public sector. Through its modern and accessible approach, the program prepares students to actively contribute to the development and functioning of public institutions within a system that is continuously evolving in Kosovo.

Mission statement

The mission of the MA Public Administration program is: “To equip students with thorough academic knowledge, research skills and key competences in the field of public administration studies through contemporary teaching methods and research experiences that enable them to contribute to society by utilizing these skills in the labour market and their further education.”

Admission to studies

According to Article 6 of the Regulation on Master Studies, all candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree, having earned at least 180 ECTS or 240 ECTS credits may enroll in Master’s studies. The conditions for admission to Master’s studies are as follows:

If a student has completed their previous studies in a different field, they are required to take the foundational examinations related to the Bachelor’s program in public administration. These are referred to as differential examinations.

Number of study places

The number of study places according to the decision of the KAA is 120 students per academic year.

Recognition of qualifications

Per the Regulation for Master’s Studies at AAB College, recognition of qualifications and transfer of studies are governed by Articles 9, 10, and 11 of this regulation. These articles outline the conditions, criteria, and procedures for admitting students from other higher education institutions, the transfer process, and the recognition and equivalence of previously studied courses.

Studies in the MA program in Public Administration last 2 years, 120 ECTS, with a total of 4 semesters.

Level and Academic Degree

Upon completion of studies, students earn the academic title Master of Arts in Public Administration.

Employment Prospects of Students

Graduates of the MA in Public Administration program have wide employment opportunities in public institutions, government agencies, central and local administration, as well as in international organizations and the private sector.

They can be engaged in policy-making positions, public policy analysis, project management, the drafting and implementation of institutional strategies, as well as in leading administrative and organizational processes. Thanks to the research skills gained during their studies, graduates can also contribute as researchers in institutes, research centers, civil society organizations, and policy analysis projects.

The program also provides a solid academic foundation that enables students to pursue their PhD studies in public administration, political science, public management, or other related fields, thereby building an academic or research career.

Assessment methods

The assessment of student achievements is carried out in accordance with the learning outcomes of each course and the academic/professional competencies required by the program. The assessment formats are defined in each syllabus, and students are clearly informed about their tasks and responsibilities throughout the semester.
