Nora Osmani

Nora Osmani, born on October 14, 1989, in Kičevo, is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at AAB College in Pristina, Kosovo, where she teaches various courses in civil law and information technology law. Her academic and research work is primarily focused on information technology law, personal data protection, privacy, and artificial intelligence.

After completing her bachelor’s studies in Law and in Marketing Management at the State University of Tetova, she successfully completed her master’s studies in Civil Law at the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina,” defending a thesis entitled: “Modes of Acquisition of Property According to the Legislation of Macedonia and Kosovo.” She earned her PhD at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, at the Faculty of Law, specializing in Information Technology Law, with a specific focus on privacy and personal data protection in the digital age.

During her PhD studies, she was a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University in the USA and a visiting researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium and Masaryk University, Institute of Law and Technology, in Brno, Czech Republic. These international experiences enabled her to strengthen her knowledge on topics such as artificial intelligence, criminal liability of autonomous systems, and legal challenges related to privacy.

From 2018 to 2020, she worked as an external research associate at Masaryk University, where she was part of the C4E research project that explored the legal personhood of artificial intelligence, criminal liability, and the impact of autonomous systems on privacy.

She is the author of several academic publications in international journals and conferences, such as the article on the complexity of criminal liability of AI systems, published in the Masaryk University Journal of Law and Technology, as well as other papers on the right to be forgotten and privacy protection in North Macedonia.

She has participated in numerous international conferences in the fields of technology law and data protection, including the 8th Annual International Conference on Cyber Engagement (Washington DC), the 9th Annual Privacy Papers for Policymakers (Washington DC), the 10th International CPDP Conference – “The Age of Intelligent Machines” (Brussels), the 13th International Conference on Cyberspace (Brno), the international conference “Social Changes in the Global World” at Goce Delčev University in Štip, etc. Additionally, she attended the Summer School on IP and ICT Law (Reichenau, Austria), where she further deepened her expertise in intellectual property and ICT law.

Nora is fluent in English and Macedonian, has good knowledge of Serbian, and is currently improving her Spanish language skills. She currently lives and works in Pristina.
