25th Anniversary Ceremony and the International Award for Human Rights

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, AAB College awarded the International Award for Human Rights and Freedoms, one of the highlights of the solemn ceremony. This year, the award was conferred upon Dr. Feride Rushiti, Director of the Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims, in recognition of her lifelong dedication to protecting human dignity and fundamental rights.

Presentation of the Award

The award was presented to Dr. Rushiti by Dr. Sc. Blerim Olluri, Rector of AAB College, on behalf of the institution.

Biography and Contributions of Dr. Feride Rushiti

Born in 1970, Dr. Rushiti completed her medical studies at the University of Tirana in 1997 and later specialized in gastroenterology. Following the Kosovo War (1998–1999), she mobilized a team of 45 healthcare professionals to support returning refugees and torture victims. She was among the first to provide direct care to survivors of sexual violence and to address the psychological trauma of war victims, particularly women and minority groups.

As the founder and Executive Director of the Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (KRCT) in Kosovo, Dr. Rushiti has played a pivotal role in ensuring legal recognition of survivors of wartime sexual violence, securing pensions for them, and improving the legal framework for the humane treatment of detainees.
