Today, AAB College hosted the first meeting of the international project UniGreen – Advancing Sustainability in Higher Education for the Benefit of All, funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) 2025 programme. The project aims to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and promote sustainable development through higher education.
AAB College holds the leading role in the project. The meeting brought together national and international project partners, academic representatives, and project management experts.
The meeting opened with introductory remarks by the Project Coordinator, Prof. Aleksandar Takovski, who highlighted the strategic importance of the UniGreen project. He emphasized that the project represents a significant step toward strengthening academic and institutional capacities by establishing sustainable management structures and fostering long-term cooperation among partner universities.
In his welcome address, Rector of AAB College, Prof. Dr. Blerim Olluri, thanked all participants and underlined that the project comes at a time when universities are not only centers of knowledge, but also key actors in addressing global challenges.
“Through UniGreen, we are taking concrete steps to integrate a green mindset into governance, teaching, institutional practices, and community engagement within higher education institutions. For AAB College, sustainability is closely linked to our strategic vision. We view the green transition not only as an environmental issue, but also as an educational, social, and ethical one,” Rector Olluri stated.
The Vice-Rector for International Relations and Cooperation, Ms. Venera Llunji, addressed the project from an international cooperation perspective, noting that such initiatives create structured spaces that enable institutions to learn from one another.
“Each partner brings specific expertise, institutional experience, and local knowledge. The value of this consortium lies not only in individual contributions, but in how these contributions are coordinated and translated into joint outcomes,” Llunji emphasized.
The Director of the Projects Office, Ms. Ilirjana Geci, focused on the practical dimension of the project, stressing the importance of clear planning, effective management, and continuous monitoring of activities.
During the first day of the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the project structure, Work Packages, management plan, quality assurance mechanisms, and risk management strategies. Each partner presented their role and contribution, reaffirming full commitment to the successful implementation of the UniGreen project.
