30 April 2026

The project “Legal Education on Gender Equality in the EU: Integrating EU Frameworks into Law Curriculum (EU LEG)” was officially launched at AAB College. The project coordinator, Ganimete Ismajli, presented the main objectives and activities of this initiative.

LEG-EU is funded by Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions and represents an important step toward strengthening gender equality through education and aligning legal education with European Union standards.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Rector of AAB College, Blerim Olluri, who emphasized the institution’s role in societal development and the importance of such initiatives.

“At AAB College, we believe this is our mission: not only to be transmitters of knowledge, but active contributors to societal development. Projects like this demonstrate that an institution can and should play a key role in this process—not only by educating, but also by influencing, opening debates, and offering concrete solutions.”

Further contributions were made by Aida Alla, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages; Mentor Lecaj, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Uranela Demaj, who discussed the role of the project in promoting language as a reflection of an equal society, as well as the contribution of their respective faculties in its implementation.

During the discussion session with participating institutions, Laura Pula from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor of Kosovo and Mirjeta Shala addressed issues of gender equality within the justice system, with a particular focus on domestic violence.

From an international standards perspective, Biljana Nastovska of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo presented international practices and frameworks for advancing gender equality.

The launch ceremony was also attended by Fatmire Kollcaku from the Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights, Gender Equality, Labour, Family, Missing Persons, and Petitions; Adelina Berisha, Program Director for Addressing Gender-Based Violence at the Kosovo Women’s Network; Mersiha Kaja, Chief Risk Officer at PriBank; Rifadije Sopi, Chair of Women Assembly Members in Municipality of Prishtina; among others.

From the AAB College Project Office, Director Ilirjana Geci and Project Officer Arta Musollaj emphasized the importance of effective management and implementation of international projects.

The event concluded with the emphasis that the project will continue with further activities aimed at integrating gender equality into education and advancing practices in line with European standards.
