Professor Aida Thaqi from the Faculty of Foreign Languages participated in the Second International Symposium on Discourse Studies, which was held online from May 19–21, 2026. The symposium was organized by the Centre for Discourse Studies in Barcelona, under the theme “Discourses of Power, Resistance, and Reaction in the Global Era.”
This international symposium aimed to provide an interdisciplinary platform for academic discussion on ideological and discursive tensions in the contemporary world, bringing together scholars from various countries. Among the participants were also renowned linguists in the field, as well as the co-founders of CDA, Teun A. van Dijk and Ruth Wodak.
Professor Thaqi was one of four selected panelists who presented in English during the second day of the event, which focused on “Social movement discourses: strategies of resistance, rearticulation, and construction of the commons.” She shared her scientific research with the audience, reflecting on the role of discourse in contesting social narratives that hinder the advancement of gender equality in Kosovo.
