15 July 2026

AAB College participated in the consultative roundtable organized by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the process of drafting the Kosovo Educationn Strategy 2035+, contributing strategic recommendations aimed at shaping a modern, competitive and internationally integrated higher education system.

AAB College was represented at the meeting by Vice-Rector for International Relations and Cooperation, Prof. Ass. Dr. Venera Llunji, who presented the institution’s vision and policy recommendations for the future development of higher education in Kosovo.

During the discussions, Vice-rector Llunji emphasized that the new Education Strategy should be built upon the principles of quality, performance, innovation and internationalization, promoting a system in which higher education institutions are evaluated based on measurable outcomes and societal impact rather than on their legal status or ownership structure.

Representing AAB College, Prof. Ass. Dr. Venera Llunji highlighted the need to establish a unified national higher education system that ensures equal opportunities, fair competition and performance-based development for all accredited institutions.

Among the key proposals presented by AAB College were the reform of quality assurance mechanisms, the strengthening of research and doctoral education capacities, and the advancement of internationalization policies through the development of joint programmes, double degrees, micro-credentials and stronger integration into the European Higher Education Area.

Particular attention was given to the need for comprehensive legal reform in higher education. AAB College proposed that institutional advancement should be determined by academic excellence, research capacity and international performance. In this context, the institution recommended revising the existing legal framework to enable accredited institutions that demonstrate high academic standards to obtain the status of University College or University, in line with European practices and standards.

Vice-rector Llunji further emphasized the importance of developing a performance-oriented system in which accreditation, institutional development and public policies are guided by measurable indicators such as graduate employability, research productivity, international engagement, innovation and contribution to socio-economic development.

“A modern higher education system should not ask who owns an institution, but rather what results that institution produces for society and national development,” was one of the key messages delivered during the consultation process.

AAB College’s active participation in the drafting of the Kosovo Education Strategy 2035+ reaffirms its commitment to serving as a strategic partner in public policy development and to contributing its academic expertise and international experience toward building a more inclusive, innovative, and globally competitive education system.

Through its proposals, AAB College calls for a transformative vision for higher education in Kosovo, one that places quality, merit, research excellence and international integration at the centre of educational development and positions Kosovo more firmly within the European and global academic community.
