Prof. Ass. Dr. Kaltrina Jashanica is an architect and researcher with extensive academic and professional experience in the field of architecture and urban planning. She is engaged in university teaching, interdisciplinary scientific research, and architectural design, with a special focus on materiality, urban form, and the interaction between theory and practice in architecture. She completed her PhD at the Faculty of Architecture at the “Sapienza” University of Rome in 2019, earning the title Doctor of Science in Architecture with the distinction excellent cum laude. Her dissertation, titled “Matter and Construction. Material reasoning of architecture,” addresses the role of matter and construction as fundamental categories in defining architectural and urban theory and practice, offering a significant contribution to contemporary architectural theory. She pursued her master’s studies at the University of Maribor in Slovenia and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina.”
Regarding academic engagement, since 2020 she has been lecturing as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture at AAB College in Prishtina, teaching courses in architectural design, research methodology, and spatial analysis. In parallel, since 2023, she has been engaged as a part-time lecturer at the University of New York in Tirana, where she teaches advanced courses in urban planning and interior design. Her previous experiences also include positions as a teaching assistant at the University of Prishtina, course collaborator at the “Federico II” University of Naples, and course assistant at the “Sapienza” University of Rome, demonstrating continuous international academic activity.
In addition to her university engagements, Dr. Jashanica is the founder of the architecture laboratory “2K20 Architecture Lab,” a platform established in 2020 in Lipjan, which combines architectural design with scientific research and public debate on transformative and sustainable spatial developments. She has led and contributed to significant urban projects in Kosovo, such as the Master Plan of the Muharrem Fejza Block, the Qylagë Industrial Park, the Master Plan of New Prishtina “Center,” and most recently, the winning project for the Central Park and City Square of Lipjan in collaboration with GeoMAP.

She has also participated in research groups in Italy which have been published as book chapters focusing on the city, planning, and architectural representation, such as: “La città come misura,” “Roma tra il fiume, il bosco e il mare,” and “L’ampliamento della Camera dei Deputati.”
Her contribution has also been enriched through participation in international workshops such as *La città della politica* (Rome, 2016) and *Hiša 2030* (Maribor, 2014), where she was engaged as a mentor and co-researcher in the project on degraded space at the Italian Parliament. Meanwhile, her project “A vision for the future urban spaces through the revitalization of open markets” was awarded first prize in Maribor (2013) and was presented in Turin, Italy.
Prof. Jashanica continues to contribute to the development of architectural and urban discourse through her ongoing academic and professional engagement between theoretical research and design practice. She aims to promote an integrated approach to contemporary architecture that reflects cultural, social, and environmental awareness.
