AAB College, in cooperation with the Albanological Institute of Prishtina, organized a ceremony on the occasion of the 85th birthday of academic Rexhep Qosja.

In this ceremony, attended by important figures of Kosovo institutions, intellectuals, scholars, professors, students and many guests from Kosovo and the region, academician Rexhep Qosja was highly praised for his contribution to literature.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, said that Qosja’s work is vast and far-reaching.

“We wish a happy birthday to the academician, the writer, researcher and public intellectual, Rexhep Qosja, whose monumental work has enriched the lives of many Albanians around the world.” said Kurti.

Kurti stressed that Rexhep Qosja’s work is timeless, remaining as current today as it has been in past decades. His work is a source of inspiration for young people today, as it was for young people in the ’60s,’ 70s, ’80s,’ and 90s, who, in his works, found the motivation to feel proud of the Albanian identity and to resist both physically and mentally the oppressive Yugoslav and Serbian regimes.

The Chairman of the Steering Council of AAB College, Lulzim Tafa affirmed that Qosja has been a figure without equal over the years.

“Rexhep Qosja has always known how to unfold the uniform thoughts and stances that our society has built based on the principles of a democratic society ” said Tafa.

The intellectual from Albania, Pëllumb Xhufi, the director of the Albanological Institute of Prishtina, Prof. Dr. Hysen Matoshi, as well as Professor Agim Vinca, also touched on the intellectual and academic works of Rexhep Qosja of the past 5 decades.

Academic Qosja himself expressed gratitude for this event.

“I feel great honor and joy to be amongst you today. It is a great honor because I stand amongst you in the largest and most important College in the Republic of Kosovo, which is also an institution of higher education, and the grounds for great theatrical and cultural activities, and modern media; while also being recognized by one of the most important and most valuable of Albanian institutes, the Albanological Institute of Prishtina.”

Rexhep Qosja, born in 1936 in Vuthaj, Montenegro, is the author of over 30 works of various genres. For some time, he was also involved in active politics and was part of the Kosovar delegation at the Rambouillet conference.
