The Faculty of Mass Communication in collaboration with the Jahjaga Foundation organized a lecture on the topic “Hate Speech in Public Discourse”, which was also attended by students of the Faculty of Psychology.
In recent years, hate speech has increasingly spread through unverified media and the internet, inciting and causing violence, especially among young people.
Preventing and combating hate speech on the internet are real and very specific challenges, as these messages can be distributed at great speed in many virtual groups and have an impact with unforeseen results.
Hate speech and messages that incite violence denigrate one or more people based on their membership in a social group, identified by attributes such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, physical or mental disability, etc.
