ADMIRAL JAMES FOGGO: THE CONVERSION OF THE KSF TO AN ARMY IS AN ISSUE THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF KOSOVO SHOULD TALK ABOUT

22 March 2018

Admiral James Foggo III, Commander of the Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples (JFCNP) and General Salvatore CUOCI paid a visit to AAB College today, where they gave a lecture to students on the KFOR mission in Kosovo, and on NATO operations.

In this meeting with the students and academic staff of AAB College, US Admiral James Foggo said that Kosovo is very important and that we are here to maintain stability and freedom of movement. Its security concerns us all, that is why NATO is still here.

When asked if Kosovo should form an army, he said that this is an issue that institutions should address through constitutional changes.

“NATO cannot do this. The Government of Kosovo must do it through constitutional reforms. “NATO has been very clear; starting with the statement of the NATO Secretary General where he said that this is an issue that the Government of Kosovo should address with a 2/3 of the majority vote” said Admiral Foggo.

General Salvatore CUOCI added that the citizens of Kosovo have always had the will to create a better future, and that Kosovo institutions can do more in this regard.

“There is a will here to create a better future for the country, but the institutions can and should do more, no matter the challenges that they face, like the demarcation of the border with Montenegro” said General CUOCI.

US Admiral Foggo also encouraged students to continue their academic studies: “It is probably the first time I have met such a large group of young people in Kosovo, but I am impressed with you.”

The visit of NATO Admiral Foggo and KFOR General Cuoci was organized in cooperation with the Student Union of AAB College.
