On the occasion of January 24, International Education Day, a work meeting was held at AAB College with representatives of UN Women in Kosovo.
The meeting was attended by Vice Rector Venera Llunji, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Kosovare Ukshini, lecturers Roberta Bajrami and Adelina Gashi, as well as Linda Sanaja-Ukamata, Vlora Nushi and Armenda Filipaj from UN WOMEN in Kosovo, who discussed important topics with focus on the empowerment of women and girls, and the support of women in business among many other issues in our society.
During this meeting, opportunities for cooperation were also discussed, where it was emphasized that education is essential for women to achieve gender equality and become leaders of change. Educated women make significant contributions to their families’ economic status, health, nutrition and education.
January 24 has been declared International Education Day through a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018, while aiming to raise awareness of the role of education in achieving peace and sustainable development in the world.
