Besim Limani

Dr. Sc. Besim Limani, an accomplished academic and engineer, was born on August 26, 1972, in Akllap, Lipjan, Kosovo. He completed his primary education in his hometown and continued his secondary studies at the Professional High School of Electrical Engineering in Lipjan, graduating in 1991. From the earliest stages of his education, he demonstrated a strong interest in technology and engineering, which would shape his professional and academic journey.

His higher education began in 1992 at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, where he pursued studies in Electronics and Telecommunication Technology. He graduated in June 1998 with the title of Diploma Engineer. In December 1999, his degree was nostrified by the Technical University of Vienna as equivalent to Austrian studies in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Communication and Information Technology.

Driven by a commitment to continuous learning, Dr. Limani went on to complete his doctoral studies at the European University of Tirana between 2012 and 2016. He earned the title of Doctor of Science in the field of Information Systems Management. His doctoral dissertation focused on the Performance of Transmission System Technology using WDM & EDFA, specifically analyzing the backbone optical transmission line between Pristina and Skopje. Further expanding his academic credentials, he attended a university-level course in Project Management at the University of Graz in 2016, and from 2019 to 2022, he studied at the Faculty of Education in Vienna, earning a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree.

Dr. Limani’s professional career is equally extensive and diverse. Since November 2010, he has served as a lecturer at the Institute of Computer Sciences within the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications at AAB College in Prishtina, Kosovo. In addition to his academic roles, he has worked in various technical and engineering positions across Austria. From 2018, he was engaged at TGM – the Experimental Institute for New Equipment in Vienna – where he participated in laboratory- based research and development projects. He has also held roles in testing, maintenance, and quality assurance with companies such as Endo Unique/Storz, Recordum Messtechnik, and Voestalpine, specializing in electronic devices, air pollution monitoring systems, and instrumentation.

His early professional experience includes serving as a Project Associate at Flextronics International in Carinthia, Austria, where he was responsible for process control, error analysis, and developing test systems for new electronic products. Furthermore, his time in military service (2003–2004) and various technical trainings, including programming with Siemens SPS, enriched his skillset in practical engineering applications.

Dr. Limani possesses a range of technical and programming competencies. He is proficient in Microsoft Office and Siemens Simatic S7, and has academic-level knowledge of programming languages such as C, Java, AutoCAD, and SQL databases. He is multilingual, fluent in German (C1), English (B2), Albanian (native), and Serbo-Croatian.

In addition to his teaching and professional work, Dr. Limani has made meaningful contributions to scientific research. His work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. Notable among his publications are:
