PRO-DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF MASS COMMUNICATION, BURBUQE BERISHA, NOMINATED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL AWARD “THE LPTW GILDER/COIGNEY INTERNATIONAL THEATRE AWARD”

Renowned artist and director, and Pro-dean in the faculty of Mass Communication at AAB College, Burbuqe Berisha, was nominated for the International Theater Award “The LPTW Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award”

This important international award was established in 2011 as the League of Professional Theatre Women in honor of two international theatre icons, Rosamond Gilder and Martha Coigney, and aims to reward the professionals of this field for extraordinary achievement, while also increasing their works’ reach across borders around the globe. 

Receivers of this award, which is given once every 3 years, have so far been artists from Rwanda, Columbia, and Netherlands. 

Professor Burbuqe Berisha is among 27 other nominated women from 18 countries around the world. She is the author of 12 artistic short films, 5 documentaries, 8 theatrical plays, and has received a cinematography award in 2018 for her feature film “A story of Prishtina”. 

Also, Berisha has won many international awards for short film, documentary, and theatrical performances. Burbuqe Berisha was the head of the Steering Council of the National Theatre of Kosovo, has managed ABC Cinema, and has also been a member of the Kosovo Cinema Center. 

Since 2012, Berisha is working as a professor and Pro-dean in the Faculty of Mass Communication at AAB College, while also directing the one and only “Prishtina International Theatre Festival”, which is organized by AAB College.
