AAB College headed by Rector Bujar Demjaha and with the initiative of the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Fitim Aliu, supports the initiative for the four-petal poppy to become the official symbol of the remembrance of Serbia’s genocide towards the Albanians in Kosovo.

This symbol proposed by the “Genocide in Kosovo – Open Wound” Center, which carries the colors of the Albanian national flag, through four petals, represents the forms of the four genocidal acts that Serbia carried out during the war in Kosovo: the murders (over ten thousand Albanians killed of all ages); sexual violence (over twenty thousand victims of sexual violence); ethnic cleansing (about one million victims of ethnic cleansing); and the destruction of Albanian residences and facilities.

Therefore, on the eve of January 15, the Commemoration Day of the Genocide towards the Albanians in Kosovo, through this statement, the professors and all the staff of AAB College support the initiative and invite the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to adopt the poppy as an official symbol and identification mark for the memory of Serbia’s genocide towards Albanians in Kosovo.

This symbol should serve as a unique sign to keep our collective memory alive and never forget!
