An international scientific conference, organized by the Faculty of Public Administration, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics, opened today at AAB College.
This conference was organized in cooperation with the University of Southeast Europe of Macedonia
of the North and “Ismail Qemaili University of Vlora”, titled “Security, peace and sustainable development in the troubled world”.
In its opening, the vice-rector of AAB College Venera Llunji, in the role of moderator, said that organizing conference at AAB aims to be useful in bringing researchers together and hearing from them the obstacles facing the Western Balkans.
“Located in the neuralgic region of the European continent, in a world troubled by Russian aggression in
Ukraine, Kosovo, the place of organization of this conference bordered with Serbia, a close ally with
Aggressive Russia, we researchers at AAB College thought it would be quite useful to do together with researchers and not politicians, to hear from the researchers the consequences in security, in the economy, but also risks as well as solutions for still open issues that burden the Western Balkans”, said Llunji.
While the rector of AAB College Blerim Olluri emphasized the importance and space dedicated to this type of conferences in the institution.
“AAB College has already become a center of international scientific forums. Internationalization and networking are also key areas where we have developed important European connections. Conferences like today’s, with a global scope, are held twice a year. We promote the culture of open science and open access, which is why today’s conference is free of charge all the participants”, Olluri added.
The Dean of the Faculty of Public Administration Vrullim Buja, on behalf of the organizers, thanked the participants, partners and the main speaker, mentioning that the participants in the conference are from universities such as: Francisco State University, University of California, John Hopkins University, L’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Bouzaréah, University of Szeged, Kerala University, Texas Woman’s University, University of Sarajevo, Tirana, Durrës, Southeast Europe, AAB College, etc.
The keynote speaker at this conference was renowned foreign policy professor Edward Joseph, from John Hopkins University in Washington. He sharing his sensational experience as a participant in numerous missions for conflict resolution such as Kosovo, Bosnia, Macedonia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Haiti, etc. emphasized the importance of the Western Balkans and how we should approach the daily challenges faced by the states.
Among other things, Professor Joseph mentioned the concerns about conflicts between the big states of the world, with the consequences that they can convey to other states, such as those of the Western Balkans. 102 authors from 26 universities of the world will participate in the conference, who will present 75 researches divided into 11 panels.
