The second edition of the 2019 AAB Autumn Book Fair has started

9 October 2019

Prishtinë, 09.10.2019

From today until 12 October 2019, AAB College will host about 50 publishing houses from Kosovo, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Germany, France, etc. within the second edition of the AAB 2019 Autumn Book Fair.

At the opening ceremony of this edition, the Pro-rector for Research at AAB College, prof. dr. Hasan Saliu said the AAB 2019 Autumn Book Fair aims to bring publishers and readers together in a university setting: “We at AAB have a whole city of readers, about 20,000 of them as students and academic staff.”

Saliu emphasized that despite the fact that the physical book (the one on paper) is increasingly competing with the electronic one, we do not see it as a threat but as an interactive party. “AAB College as the most digitized educational institution in the region continues to host such mass exposure events of the traditional book format”

The tradition of organizing the Book Fair was also highly appreciated by the Director of the Department of Culture in the Municipality of Prishtina, Blerta Basholli, who said that this event is important because it draws attention to the libraries and the reading that has been left behind and that this serves as a reminder to us on how important it is to look towards books for our mental, psychological, emotional and creative development.

“Culture and education are two very important pillars for the development of a society, so organizing a book fair in a university setting is a very effective intertwining of those two pillars and a welcome activity for many” Basholli said.

On behalf of the Kosovo Publishers Association spoke the Association’s secretary, Mr. Arber Rrahmani.

“Such an event benefits the health of books. Any event that brings publishers and students together is to the benefit of our society. The book needs to be as close to the reader as possible” said Rrahmani, who thanked AAB College and all the publishers involved, and all those who showed an increased interest in books.

The solemn opening ceremony of the AAB 2019 Autumn Book Fair was followed by an artistic program by pianist Elizabeth Qarri and soprano Arta Jashari.

The fair will be open daily until October 12, from 08:00 to 18:00. In addition to exhibiting and selling special award-winning student books, dozens of new titles will be promoted as part of the program.

AAB College provides free transportation from city to campus and vice versa for all book lovers.
