The program is designed to prepare specialized professionals for the media market and for both public and private organizations in Kosovo. It aims to equip students with specific knowledge and skills, enabling them to become professionals of integrity and valuable citizens who contribute relevant expertise to society.
To achieve these objectives, the program provides students with opportunities to acquire scientifically validated knowledge and practical skills that they can apply in the labor market. Graduates will be able to make independent judgments while demonstrating strong communicative abilities and a sense of responsibility toward society.
In essence, the program focuses on delivering specialized knowledge in media, journalism, and communications, while also offering interdisciplinary modules. These include media and digital culture, social psychology, marketing communication, organizational communication, and public relations. Additionally, it provides critical insights into the theories and concepts related to a connected society, particularly in the context of social media and the prevalence of fake news.
The mission of the Master program in Mass Communication and Journalism is: “to prepare specialized professionals for the media market, for institutions and organizations in Kosovo and beyond, with specific knowledge and skills, to succeed as professionals and critical thinkers and to become productive citizens in society through scientific research”.

According to Article 6 of the Regulation on Master Studies, all candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree, having earned at least 180 ECTS or 240 ECTS credits may enroll in Master’s studies. The conditions for admission to Master’s studies are as follows:
If a student has completed their previous studies in a different field, they are required to take the foundational examinations related to the Bachelor’s program in Mass Communication and Journalism. These are referred to as differential examinations.
The number of study places according to the decision of the KAA is 60 students per academic year.
Per the Regulation for Master’s Studies at AAB College, recognition of qualifications and transfer of studies are governed by Articles 9, 10, and 11 of this regulation. These articles outline the conditions, criteria, and procedures for admitting students from other higher education institutions, the transfer process, and the recognition and equivalence of previously studied courses.
Studies in the MA Program in Mass Communication and Journalism last 2 years, 120 ECTS, with a total of 4 semesters.
Upon completion of studies, students earn the academic title Master of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism.
Graduates of the Master’s program in Journalism at AAB College enjoy excellent employment prospects in both local and international markets. The MA Program in Mass Communication and Journalism is designed to develop students’ research and analytical skills, allowing them to critically understand the role of media in democratic societies. It also aims to contribute to the development of policies, ethics, and professional practices in journalism and communication.
Students are prepared for advanced professional roles such as responsible editors, media analysts, experts in strategic and political communication, media researchers, consultants for public and private institutions, university lecturers, and managers of media platforms.
Through professional internships, research projects, in-depth case analyses, and collaboration with media, academic, and societal institutions, students acquire practical skills in critically analyzing media content, managing strategic communication, and conducting scientific research in the fields of media and society.
In the Master’s Program in Mass Communication and Journalism, continuous student assessment is implemented. The assessment methods are outlined in each course syllabus, which is made available to students through the E-Student portal prior to the start of each semester.
Depending on the nature of the courses, students are assigned various tasks, including assignments, seminars, presentations, independent work, media product creation, as well as research projects and papers. Typically, student participation in lectures is valued at up to 10% of the overall assessment, while the final exam generally accounts for around 40%. In certain courses, such as Methodology and the Master’s Thesis Seminar, assessment is based on a research paper, a review paper, and a research proposal instead of a traditional exam.
