Aim and program profile

The objective of the Master Programme in Mass Communication and Journalism is advancement of professionalization in the area of media and communication through exchange of experiences with students and international academic staff. Development of this programme, which is consecutive to the already accredited Bachelor (BSc) programme, is based on the real force of Kosovar and regional market, where so far there was a successful penetration of the final product of this study programme. Therefore, actual market demands make another study programme such as this one on mass communication and journalism in media and communication studies necessary.

Expected learning outcomes

– use of skills, techniques, practices and/or key resources related to communications;
– specialized knowledge, a part of which are essential part of media and communication knowledge, as a basis for original thinking and researching;
– critical awareness for stakeholders of communication, communication channels and communication effects, such as interaction between them and media as a communication industry.
– work with knowledge that covers and integrates a large part of main areas of the field, discipline and work
– including their features, boundaries and terminology;
– application of critical understanding of main theories, concepts and ethical and communication ethics;
– specialized skills for solving problems required in opinion research;
– use of extensive, detailed and critical knowledge and understanding of one or more specializations, which are the most advanced part of communication field (cultural, integrated communication, public diplomacy, etc.).

Duration of studies and workload

Four semesters, 120 ECTS; 530 classes of lectures and 145 classes of exercises in three semesters. To this, the workload of 600 classes is added for preparation of Master Thesis in the fourth semester
