4 December 2025

The 8th Wood Processing Convention was held, with AAB College represented by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ilir Bytyçi, who contributed as a panelist in the session dedicated to cooperation between higher education and the wood processing industry.

During his speech, Prof. Bytyçi emphasized that Kosovo’s wood processing industry is experiencing steady growth and attracting increasing attention in both local and international markets. He highlighted that the national strategy for the development of this sector requires strong support, not only from government institutions but also from academic institutions, which play a key role in preparing professional personnel.

He specifically mentioned programs from the Faculty of Architecture as well as the new Bachelor program Interior Space Design within the Faculty of Applied Arts. This program includes courses covering wood processing, industrial design, furniture design, finishing materials, and related fields, preparing professionals capable of applying their knowledge in contemporary practices, both locally and globally.

Prof. Bytyçi also presented concrete AAB projects addressing industry needs directly. Among these, the Executive Program in the Wood Industry, implemented in cooperation with the University of Bologna and SHEHU Group and funded by USAID, allows students to combine theoretical knowledge delivered by local and international professors at AAB College with professional practice organized at SHEHU Group facilities. The CreaTech project, supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), was also highlighted.

AAB College continuously organizes workshops, meetings, and forums with industry partners, where business representatives present their requirements for skills and professional profiles. This approach ensures that academic programs are aligned with real labor market developments.
