Academic Roundtable at AAB College on Anti-Doping, Sports Integrity, and the Challenges of Modern Sport

AAB College organized an academic roundtable titled “DOPING IN KOSOVAR SPORTS – REALITY OR TABOO”, an academic and institutional event that brought together representatives of state institutions, the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, the Anti-Doping Agency, sports federations, academia, and field experts.

The discussion focused on an in-depth analysis of the legal, institutional, educational, and health-related dimensions of doping, emphasizing that this issue is not limited only to elite sports, but also affects the development of young athletes, sports culture, and public health in general.

In this context, participants highlighted the importance of harmonizing the legal framework with the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA), strengthening control and testing mechanisms, and increasing the role of education as a long-term preventive instrument.

Special attention was given to the role of educational programs and school sports in raising awareness among younger generations, as well as to the need for integrating anti-doping education into formal and non-formal sports training processes.

The roundtable featured contributions from Dr. Sc. Blerim Olluri, Rector; Prof. Ass. Dr. Fatmir Pireva, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports; Mr. Feim Hoxha, Acting Director of the Anti-Doping Agency under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Prof. Dr. Bernard Tahir Begolli from the Olympic Committee of Kosovo – KosADA; Prof. Dr. Rando Kukeli from the Sports University of Tirana and President of the Albanian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation; Mr. Esat Lata, President of the Kosovo Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation; Prof. Adrian Telaku, President of the Kosovo School Sports Federation; as well as Mr. Muharrem Sahiti, Sports Director at the Football Federation of Kosovo, and Mr. Fatlum Berisha, international football referee.

Through this academic roundtable, AAB College reaffirms its role as a leading institution in promoting sports science, quality education, professional ethics, sports integrity, and above all clean sport, directly contributing to the raising of institutional and social awareness regarding the importance of combating doping in Kosovar and regional sports.
