EACH YEAR IN KOSOVO, 1500-1600 PATIENTS ARE DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

On the occasion of February 4th, World Cancer Day, medical programs within AAB College organized two important activities aimed at raising awareness and forms of prevention of this disease.

In a lecture organized at the Media Center of AAB College, where oncology experts, Sehad Kadiri and Ekrem Hyseni lectured, it was said that Kosovo consists of 1500-1600 young people diagnosed each year with this deadly disease.

Even in the world, this disease is considered one of the diseases with the highest mortality, while it is estimated that every minute 17 people lose their battle with it in the globe.

Oncologist Ekrem Hyseni, a lecturer in AAB College said that so far in Kosovo the equipment for the treatment of this disease in QKUK has been obsolete, while recently there have been developments in improving the technology equipment for cancer treatment. He announced that the new device for radiation therapy will be launched soon.

On the other hand, the Faculty of Nursing of AAB College and Dokuz Eylül University from Turkey organized a joint online discussion roundtable, on the occasion of “World Cancer Day”. In this roundtable, was also discussed of the new forms of treatment of this disease, where they talked in particular about the effects of music therapy.

The factors that affect the prevention of this disease were also mentioned, such as the reduction of smoking, alcohol, physical activity, the quality of the food we eat and early detection.
