At the invitation of the dean’s office of the Faculty of Mass Communication at AAB College, professor from the University of Tirana Ervin Goci, held a special lecture with two groups of students from this faculty.
The topic of the first lecture was “Are social networks media?”, where Professor Goci focused on the effects, connections and consequences that social networks have on news and media in general.
He mentioned numerous cases which cause social networks to cut off the source from the news, therefore this implies an unchangeable impact on the journalism profession.
And in the second lecture on the topic “Disruption of the information ecosystem and the consequences on the quality of democracy”, the importance of distinguishing qualitative, investigative and classic news from what is served on social networks was emphasized.
They also talked about the consequences of this whole news event published on social networks, often unconfirmed, without accurate sources and without reliable facts.
During the discussions, the students had the opportunity to share their experiences and personal opinions regarding these two topics, showing how they value social networks and what positive or negative side they have in the journalist profession.
