Game Design and Animation

Aim and program profile

The BA – Game Design and Animation program is primarily based on the development and application of digital game design and development skills as well as animation. This branch enters the world of creating computer games and interactive applications. Students learn narrative development, character design, 2D and 3D graphics, and gameplay implementation while animation provides in-depth knowledge of computer animation techniques. Students study character design, set design, scripting, and animation techniques for film, commercials, and other multimedia projects.

Expected learning outcomes

Expected learning outcomes in the BA Game Design and Animation program.

The program provides opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate knowledge and understanding, skills and other attributes in the following areas. The results of the programs are referenced in the higher education qualification frameworks and relate to the typical student.

• Design and development skills, capacity to expand accepted norms of creative practice
• Articulating critical thinking assessments of time within the discipline of games itself and demonstrating the ability to make connections with new and unique associations with their personal practice.
• Producing a body of work that demonstrates a highly personal statement, contributing to the wider current of debate in the chosen discipline.
• Work independently to produce a cohesive body of design and development work that reflects professional standards within their field of study.
• Systematic research, identification, organization, analysis of the use and presentation of information that supports a reasoned argument, a critical position, or a research conclusion related to the issues at hand.
• Ability to use skills to analyze, debate and discuss emerging issues, theories and philosophies

Duration of studies and workload

Studies in the Game Design and Animation Program last 3 years, 180 ECTS with a total of 6 semesters. Each semester must complete the quota of 30 per Semester, respectively 60 per academic year
