Students of the Department of German Language held a virtual lecture with Prof. Ellen Tichy, titled “How Can a Foreign Language Be Learned Best? – Theories and Practice of Second Language Acquisition.” Prof. Tichy is a lecturer in the course “German as a Foreign Language and Languages for Specific Purposes” at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin).

During this session, students focused on the central issues of language acquisition. Prof. Tichy presented contemporary approaches and emphasized the importance of personal reflection in learning. Participants discussed the factors that influence success, as well as the most effective strategies.

The lecture addressed the role of motivation in the language acquisition process, empowering students to create their own strategies and meeting European standards of studying.

Students compared traditional methods with modern digital media and with learning formats supported by artificial intelligence. Special focus was given to the question of whether authentic media (series, films, social networks) can support the learning of German.

Through sustainable curriculum development and contemporary education, the faculty strengthens its academic reputation and international cooperation as evidence of academic achievement and global education.
