Agreta Gashi

Professor

Prof. Ass. Dr. Agreta Gecaj-Gashi was born on February 8, 1973, in Peja. She completed her primary and secondary education in Gjakova. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1997.

From 1999 to 2004, she pursued her specialist training at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, specifically at the Clinic of Anesthesiology with Intensive Care, as well as part of her training at the University Clinical Center of Zagreb. In 2004, after passing the specialist exam, she was awarded the title Specialist in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.

In 2007, she completed her Magister of Science degree at the University of Prishtina – Faculty of Medicine, with the thesis titled:“The effects of adjuvants combined with bupivacaine in spinal anesthesia and balanced analgesia”, earning the title Magister of Medical Sciences.

In 2015, she completed her Doctoral Dissertation at “Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, with the topic:“Low and minimal flow anesthesia: impact on respiratory, hepatic, and renal function, awareness, and agitation during awakening”, receiving the title Doctor of Medical Sciences.

From 2010 to 2018, she served as a Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine in University of Prishtina in the Anesthesiology with Resuscitation.

Since 2017, she has been a lecturer at AAB College, where she was appointed Professor Asistant in 2020.

From 2020 to 2023, she was a member and chair of the Board of Directors of the University Clinical Service of Kosovo (ShSKUK), and from 2022 to 2023, she was a member of the Governing Board of the Health Insurance Fund.

In 2024, she was elected President of the Association of Anesthesiologists and Intensivists of Kosovo.

Prof. Ass. Dr. Gecaj-Gashi was a member of the ESAIC Council (European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care) from 2014 to 2020. Since 2020, she has been a member of NASC (National Anaesthesiologists Societies Committee) within ESAIC. Since 2023, she serves as the Director of the CEEA (Committee for European Education in Anaesthesiology) for the Kosovo center.

In June 2025 she was awarded with FESAIC (Fellow of European Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care) Diploma from European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.

The FESAIC title is recognised throughout the anaesthesiology and intensive care community as a symbol of excellence. Being a FESAIC is not only a recognition of the contribution to anaesthesiology, it also means that one belongs to a dedicated group of professionals that demonstrates integrity and excellence in the care of patients.

Currently, she practices her professional work at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, specifically at the Clinic of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.
She also continues her academic and educational activity at AAB College, in the departments of Dentistry and Nursing as a Professor Assistant.

She is the author and co-author of numerous publications in prestigious journals, with around 3,000 citations and an H-index of 20 on Google Scholar. She was also a guest lecturer at many national and international conferences and congresses, and has served as National Coordinator in five international scientific projects.(https://esaic.org)
She is the author of a monograph titled: “Application of Adjuvants in Spinal Anesthesia”, and has author of chapters to two books: “Emergency Medicine” and “Surgery for Nurses”.
