Arta Hoti

Prof. Ass. Dr. Arta Hoti Arifaj was born in Skenderaj and completed her primary and secondary education in Prishtina. In 2005, she graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Prishtina, majoring in “Banking, Finance and Accounting” (https://uni-pr.edu/). In 2010, she completed her postgraduate studies at the same institution in the same field, earning the title of Master of Economic Sciences (Mr.Sc). As part of her professional development and academic engagements, in 2015 she undertook a six-month doctoral research mobility through the Erasmus Mundus program at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy, where she completed the research component of her dissertation. Later, in 2018, she defended her PhD dissertation at the Faculty of Economics, University of Prishtina, titled: “Impact of Risk-Based Supervision on the Level of Non-Performing Loans in the Banking System of Kosovo,” and was awarded the title Doctor of Economic Sciences in Banking, Finance and Accounting (https://uni-pr.edu).

Her professional career began in the banking sector, specifically at Banka për Biznes in Prishtina, where she worked from 2005 until early 2016. During this period, she held several key positions in the risk, credit, and finance departments, starting as a credit analyst, then as a credit approval, monitoring, and control officer, and later as a credit risk supervisor. Her responsibilities included financial evaluation of clients, credit risk control, and managing the Credit Council’s decisions for individuals and businesses. Following her extensive experience in the financial sector, she transitioned to higher education, initially contributing as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Economics, University of Prishtina (2011–2017), and since 2018, as an Assistant Professor at AAB College, where she continues to teach subjects in the fields of banking, finance, and international markets.

Prof. Ass. Dr. Arta Hoti Arifaj is a distinguished academic and expert in banking, finance, and accounting, with extensive experience in both the banking sector and higher education in Kosovo. She currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics at AAB College (www.kolegjiaab.com), where she is actively engaged in teaching, scientific research, and mentoring future generations of economists. She has built a notable academic profile through her research activities, participation in international projects, and active support in accreditation and reform processes in higher education in the country.

In addition to her teaching and research commitments, she has contributed in various supportive roles within university institutions. She has served as an entrance exam coordinator, preparer and translator of accreditation documents for the Faculty of Economics at the University of Prishtina, and as an active member in organizing and developing academic activities at AAB College. Her professional dedication, academic integrity, and multidisciplinary approach make her an influential figure in higher education and the financial system in Kosovo.

Prof. Hoti Arifaj has a dense academic activity. Since the 2018/19 academic year, she has been a full-time staff member at the Faculty of Economics, AAB College, where she lectures courses in finance, banking, and accounting, such as Corporate Governance, Macroeconomics II, Bank Management, Public Auditing, and others.

 

Scientific Publications and Conferences


Her contribution to scientific research includes a number of indexed publications in renowned international journals such as Elsevier, EBSCO, DOAJ, among others. Her research topics cover areas such as the impact of credit risk on bank performance, dividend analysis, capital management, corporate governance, financial analyses of corporations, and the application of international accounting standards. She has presented papers at international conferences held in Greece, Vienna, Italy, Poland, Albania, and the region, affirming her professionalism and contribution to the international academic community.
