Fatmir Pireva
Dean
Prof. Assoc. Dr. Fatmir Pireva was born on December 7, 1970, in Tygjec. He completed his primary and secondary education in Gjilan. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Prishtina (1990–1995). He then continued his Master’s studies at the same faculty, which he completed in 2008, and obtained the title of Doctor of Sports Sciences at the “Džemal Bijedić” University in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (2012), with a dissertation focused on the development of motor skills and sensitive periods in the development of coordination, precision, and balance.
His professional career is multidimensional, covering the academic, public, and international sectors. Since 2012, he has been a member of the academic staff at AAB College, at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, and since 2015 he has served as Dean of the faculty . He lectures at both Bachelor and Master levels on subjects such as: “Basketball”, “Physical Education and Methodology”, “Technology of Sports Training”, “Special Physical Education”, “Measurements and Testing in Elite Sport” and “Leadership Strategies in Team Sports”.
Before joining AAB College, he worked for several years in important development and support projects. From 2004 to 2015, he worked in cooperation with GTZ/GIZ https://www.giz.de/en/worldwide/298.html and the European Agency for Reconstruction , in the role of technical and professional officer for Kosovo municipalities and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, contributing to projects on energy efficiency, internal auditing, and public finance control. He has also served as the personal assistant to the Ombudsperson https://oik-rks.org/en/ and was previously part of the OSCE https://www.osce.org/sq/mission-in-kosovo in the security sector.
Prof. Pireva has made a significant contribution to scientific research and publications in the field of sports sciences, with over 30 papers published in internationally indexed journals such as Sport Science, Sportski Logos, SportMont, Sports Science and Health, among others. His research focuses include motor skills, basketball, anthropometry, physical education in primary schools, gender differences in physical performance, and the impact of extracurricular physical activity on children’s development. He has contributed as author and co-author to notable publications even during the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing the role of new alternatives in sports and recreational activities.
He has participated in more than 25 international scientific conferences, representing AAB College in countries such as Bosnia, Albania, North Macedonia, Turkey, Spain, France, and the Czech Republic. Recent activities include Erasmus+ mobilities at:
He is also part of the European collaborative project Let’s PLAY Maths, which promotes the value of sports games based on learning mathematics for children aged 6–9. This Erasmus+ project is implemented in partnership with:

In addition to his academic roles, he remains active in organizing and managing training programs, seminars, and collaboration projects in the fields of sports, education, and institutional capacity development. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and dedication to advancing sports education and modern practices in Kosovo and the region.
Prof. Fatmir Pireva was a co-founder of the Association of Physical Culture and Sports Pedagogues for the Gjilan region in 1995. That same year, he was also co-founder and secretary of the Gjilani Ski Club.
He was a co-founder of the University Sports Federation and served as a member of its executive board (link). He is a professional collaborator with the Kosovo Swimming Federation as an international referee (link); the Kosovo Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation, serving as a lecturer for the licensing of fitness trainers (link); and the Kosovo School Sports Federation (link).
He is also the founder of the PROSTAR Basketball Club in 2005 in Prishtina, where many generations took their first steps in basketball. He received his basketball coaching license for youth categories from FIBA and the Kosovo Basketball Federation in 2006 (link).
Prof. Pireva is a member of the organizing boards of sports conferences at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Tetova Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport, and Mother Teresa University in Skopje. He also serves on the review boards of scientific journals such as Sport Science (Travnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Sport and Health: International Journal of Sports Sciences and Health (Tetovo, North Macedonia).
