Prof. Ass. Dr. Sc. Remzi Smajli
Born in Skenderaj on 01.05.1963, originally from Prishtina, married with three children

He completed primary and secondary school in Skenderaj in 1981. He attended and graduated from the Faculty of Economics during the years 1982-1986.

In 1991, he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics in Prishtina, attending all semesters; however, due to political reasons and others, he could not continue with exams and returned to these studies in 2010, completing them in 2011, earning a Master’s degree in Economic Sciences. In 2012, he enrolled in doctoral studies in Tirana and completed them in 2016, earning the title of Doctor of Science in the field of Finance.

Work Experience

  • Worked in the Municipal Assembly in Skenderaj from 1987 to 1990, where he was expelled by the then Serbian regime.

  • Worked in private business “Europa 91” during 1991-1998 in a personal private company.

  • From 2000 to 2006, worked in Kosovo Tax Administration as an inspector, team leader, and operational manager, later as manager for planning and analysis in the central office.

  • From 2007 to 2010, worked professionally as a financial expert, financial advisor, and accountant.

  • At the beginning of 2010, returned to Tax Administration in leadership roles from head of the tax investigations unit to advisor in the Forced Collection Division.

  • From 2016 to 2018, served as Board Director at the Economic Bank of Prishtina.

He holds a license from the Ministry of Justice as a Bankruptcy Administrator and is a licensed financial expert at the Basic Court in Prishtina. He is a trainer at the Academy of Justice.

He is a licensed judicial expert by the Kosovo Judicial Council and on the list of experts for the Basic Court since 2004. He has worked on over 300 financial expert reports in civil and criminal fields for Basic Courts, Commercial Courts, Supreme Court, and the Prosecutor’s Office.
