Students of Psychology pay study visit to SOS Children’s Village of Kosovo

15 November 2019

A group of students and teachers from the Faculty of Psychology of AAB College paid a study visit to SOS Children’s Village in Kosovo.

During this visit, students had the opportunity to take a closer look at the inhabitants of SOS Village, which are mainly infants, children and abandoned minors. Students were introduced to the living and working environments and were informed by the SOS Kindergarten management staff about the history of this institution, the SOS Village rehabilitation and care policies, but also the main difficulties that characterize the work of this institution.

Students were also informed and had the opportunity to discuss with the professional treatment staff about the psychological and social intervention practices that are undertaken there.

SOS Children’s Village pioneers the approach of long-term family care for children without parents or who were abandoned.

SOS Children’s Villages base their activities on four principles: every child must have loving parents; family ties for natural growth; each family creates their own home which provides security to the child within the family environment as well as helping the child grow up within the community.
