The British School of Kosova (Kosovo) is conducting a School Director
The School Director is responsible for the organization and operation of all aspects of the school’s administration, including academic content and standards, financial management, facilities management, and extracurricular programs and community-related activities.
The school places particular emphasis on student learning, teacher development and training, and a welcoming and supportive culture for students and their families.
The School Director provides leadership in building a quality education program through a welcoming, supportive school environment that challenges students’ thinking and creativity, and ensures and inspires BSK’s core values of excellence, ethical living and engaged learning. The School Director ensures the financial sustainability of the school through effective management of the budget, including capital expenditures.
The School Director participates in designing a strategic plan for the school and developing policy proposals for the board’s decision. The School Director is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the BSK 2015-2020 Strategic Plan.
The School Director ensures all necessary security and safe environment needs for the school community and premises.
Demonstrated leadership in building a rigorous, rewarding academic program, inspiring students to excel, instilling strong team performance and nurturing a close partnership with parents and the local community;
At least eight years of previous experience is preferred as a school director of a comparable institution in an international setting, or equivalent leadership experience; as well as, preferably, direct classroom teaching experience;
A background in education and graduate degree in a field relevant to the management of a competitive academic institution. Post graduate degree a plus;
A history of energetic, innovative leadership in building and strengthening core academic programs while maintaining a well-focused overall school program;
A strong oral and written communicator who can convey the unique qualities and character of the school, inspire commitment from staff and the school community and articulate issues to guide effective solutions;
Experience managing appropriate levels of functional responsibility and accountability among teaching and administrative staff appropriate to the size and complexity of the school;
Experience working with people of different countries and cultures;
Experience in the use of technology to support learning and to manage business processes;
Rigorous fiscal management, including operational expenditures and capital budget, to ensure the financial sustainability of the school;
Procedures for Filing Application
Candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and the requested materials as early as possible as the Search Committee/Board of Directors reserves the right to close the selection process at any time if the right candidate is found. The review of files will begin as soon as applications are received. Skype video interviews of selected candidates will take place on a rolling basis and can be scheduled at any time after applications have been received. Site visits are expected to be arranged for lead candidates. The BSK Board intends to involve teachers, students and parents in the Director search. The new Director will be selected immediately after interviews of the finalist candidates have been completed. Current plans are to have the new Director identified prior to the end of the 2017-18 school year.
